VPC Signs Contract for Design of Talitsky Mine
On July 29, Acron subsidiary Verkhnekamsk Potash Company signed an agreement with Belgorkhimprom for general designing of the mining and processing complex at the Talitsky area of the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit in Perm Krai. Stage 1 of the project, development of the engineering design, will take 11 months from the date of signing, surveying included.
VPC obtained a license to develop the Talitsky area of the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit in May 2008 at auction. Gallurgiya developed the project, which received a positive finding from the state expert review board. As specified by the project, five wells were drilled, core samples were studied and baseline data for a conditions feasibility study and survey report were prepared. In compliance with the drill project for control wells, a technological road was constructed at the mining site. VPC cleared the forest at the site and drilled two control wells (2СТ 455 meters deep and 1СТ 365 meters deep) to study the rock mass for the future construction of mines. The Company held preliminary negotiations with FGUP US-30 and Belgorkhimprom for design of mine shafts. VPC also contracted a local engineering company, FGU UralNII Ecologiya, to perform an environmental impact assessment and design environmental protection procedures.
The Talitsky MPC will be commissioned in 2016 to reach full capacity in 2018.
